What Is Horizontal Laminar Airflow?
Horizontal laminar airflow, also called a horizontal laminar flow clean bench, is a workstation designed to provide a clean working environment for non-hazardous products and processes.
Room air is drawn through a pre-filter and then passed through the HEPA filter positioned at the rear of the work zone. The filtered air moves horizontally across the work surface in a uniform stream before discharging through the open front of the cabinet.
This airflow arrangement continuously sweeps the work area with filtered air and helps reduce the risk of airborne contamination reaching the product.

A horizontal laminar airflow cabinet is designed primarily for product protection. Air moves from the rear of the cabinet, across the work surface and toward the operator. It does not provide personnel or environmental containment.

Horizontal Laminar Airflow Features
HEPA-filtered air moves from the rear of the cabinet toward the open front in a horizontal direction. This arrangement helps provide a continuously washed clean work zone for suitable non-hazardous product-protection applications.
The standard configuration includes pre-filtration and an H14 minipleat HEPA filter to support the required cleanliness level within the work zone. Final filtration specifications are confirmed according to the approved equipment configuration.
The cabinet is designed to provide an ISO 5 clean work zone under the specified test conditions and configuration. Final performance should be verified after installation according to the agreed testing scope.
The motor-blower assembly uses a spring-suspension arrangement intended to reduce the transfer of vibration and noise to the cabinet structure.
